Challenges

As a result of our experiences and successes that we have had since 1990, we created a project plan for FUNCEDESCRI 2007-2021. The power to reach these proposed goals implies a series of challenges that must be overcome in an integrated, united manner.

• Consolidate the processes that the communities have developed to guaranty both healthy nutrition and self-sustainable food for the present and the future for every participating family.
• Strengthen local organization so that families in the communities assume responsibility for their own food security and sovereignty and that the communities develop their own ability to resist the current trends that negatively affect their food security. The organization of local communities into larger intra-community organizations, represented on a national level by the ORCONES (organization of communities to bring about the force of solidarity for the growth of the people), is a major axis of this intervention.
• Motivate the participation of rural youths in the integrated and sustainable development of their communities.
• Promote and strengthen national and international solidarity to support the work of rural communities. This solidarity is translated into human, material and economic assistance and cooperation.
