FUNCEDESCRI has collaborated with our partner communities for 20 years in the fight for food security and food sovereignty. Throughout the years, we have seen many concrete results that we are proud to share. These results include:

• General Figures
  • 67 communities in which FUNCEDESCRI works. The number of communities we partner with in each area:
    • Campur: 20
    • Nebaj: 21
    • Cunén: 26
  • 2,560 families that FUNCEDESCRI benefits
  • 1,008 families that FUNCEDESCRI works with directly
  • 215 people have been trained as promoters or technicians
  • 226 community councils have been formed by the communities themselves to oversee the administration of FUNCEDESCRI’s projects
• Comprehensive Farms
  • 25 comprehensive farms have been established to serve as models for all of the families in our partner communities
  • 2-3 plots of land in each of our partner families’ parcels are farmed organically
  • 5,000-6,000 pounds of organic fertilizer are produced by our agricultural technicians each year. This saves them from spending $250 on buying fertilizer
  • 37 people have been trained as agricultural technicians
• Family Income
  • $150 of medicinal plants are sold every four months
  • $850-$1000 of organically produced crops are sold by our agricultural technicians each year as compared to the $125 of crops that they were able to sell annually before working with FUNCEDESCRI
  • 10 people come to our centers each week to sell their organically-grown crops
• Appropriate Technologies
  • 1,000 composting latrines installed
  • 1,000 improved stoves installed
  • 55 grey water filters installed
  • 25 corn mills installed
  • 17 waters systems installed
• Health and Nutrition
  • 47 trained health and nutrition promoters
  • 5 natural medicine clinics established
  • No malnourished children in our partner communities due to increased education, access to water, and proper consumption of nutrients
