FUNCEDESCRI has friends in many parts of the world. Over 85 volunteers have come to share their time for a few days, months or years with our staff and partner communities. Each has left his or her mark.

Since its founding, FUNCEDESCRI has opened its doors to volunteers who want to contribute to rural communities in Guatemala, discover the realities of a different way of life, and form strong relationships with the organization’s staff and partner communities. Volunteers usually share their expertise through various types of service projects.

Development and Partnerships Internship

FUNCEDESCRI is hoping to increase its donor base and create new partnerships.  We are looking for a few enthusiastic and creative interns to help us realize this goal.

Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with FUNCEDESCRI staff on creating and implementing strategies to increase funding. Interns will have the option of supporting FUNCEDESCRI with a predetermined project or proposing their own project related to income generation. Projects could include defining new donor target groups, creating tailored marketing materials, reaching out to potential donors and partners, researching foundation and corporate grant opportunities, building a network of college campus fund-raising groups, etc. This internship position is ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in international development, fund-raising and/or non-profit management because of the potential to learn about development work in Guatemala, the large amount of responsibility and the creative freedom to propose new projects.

Interns can either work remotely from anywhere in the world and communicate with FUNCEDESCRI staff electronically or they can come work in San Lucas, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. Interns who work virtually are welcome to come to Guatemala to get to know the work of FUNCEDESCRI first hand.
